OAK

Paying due homage to the skills and imagination of our medieval forefathers, these frames are based upon the design and style of the vernacular oak frames found in English towns and villages.
The principle characteristic of this style is that the oak is (usually) exposed both internally and externally. This is possible because oak, with its closed cellular structure, is one of the most durable natural materials known to man.
As in American timber frames, the exposed structure and the details, which are deeply rooted in history and tradition, ask for very careful design. Dietrich's 3D model gives the designer a tool that allows him to build the frame, rather than draw it. Dietrich's software is not a drafting board put into a computer; it is the knowledge and experience of craftsmen and carpenters combined with computer age technology.
