The Dietrich’s 3D Solid Volume Modeler is ideal for the timber frame industry. With D-CAM Professional, you insert the timbers and joinery, which makes it easy to see any errors and correct them before the drawings reach the shop floor.
Easily generate all 2D plan drawings from the 3D model. The elevations, floor plans, and assembly drawings for the walls, roof and ceilings are generated automatically according to your specifications. For manual production you can have all your single beam drawings predimensioned as well.
Dietrich’s also has hundreds of construction design capabilities including joinery details, such as dovetails, mortises and tenons, draw bore tenons, notches, step joints, and shouldered tenons, as well as various profiles with individual settings.
For complicated joinery, Dietrich’s has created 'Smart-Tags' to speed up the addition of joints like the English Tying Joint. “Connector Tags’ are also available and work on the same principles as ‘Smart Tags’, but allow you to incorporate metal connectors into your structure as well. A library also exists for frequently used standard elements, such as braces, trusses, hangers, and splines.
Dynamic Linkable Modules (DLM) are used for repetitive designs, including King Post Trusses and Hammerbeams. They are automatically designed and adjusted to the given location. The unit systems (ft, in, m, cm, mm) can be changed in mid-work at any time.
As your structure becomes more complex you will appreciate the MOS, (Model Organization Structure). The MOS allows you freedom to quickly select and work on individual segments of your building without the other parts cluttering your viewing area. The MOS also keeps track of all your building elements for output to lists, as well as organizing the output files required for the beam processors.
Along with everything else comes the in-program feature of OpenGL, which allows you to view a beautiful 3D rendering of your building as you work on it. Project Data allows all production documents to be taken directly from the 3D model. Complete lists for production, material take-off, material handling, ordering, costing and quoting, are generated by D-CAM Professional. Along with these also come list for fixtures, SIP and metal contectors. All lists can be created in metric or imperial measurement.
